Letter from Mrs Elliott, Acting Head of Mackie Hill J&I School

Dear Parents / Carers

It was brought to my attention that the Wakefield Express published an article about the future of Mackie Hill Junior and Infant School on Wednesday 4thJuly 2018. This article has since been retracted as it contained many inaccuracies. Hopefully my letter to you today will lay some worries you may have to rest.

Firstly, Mackie Hill Junior and Infant School will certainly NOT be moving site – it will remain on the same site it has always been, at Mackie Hill. An important focus for the school leaders is to maintain the schools ethos, identity and community spirt.

Secondly, the council are yet to meet to approve the amalgamation. This will take place on Tuesday 10th July 2018.

Finally, the timeline for the amalgamation remains the same. Should it be approved by all parties we will be looking at a formal amalgamation in January 2019.

Be assured that I shall keep you informed of any developments as we move through this journey together. Your thoughts, feelings and opinions are important and we shall continue to listen to them as we continue on this journey together.

I hope this can put aside any concerns you may have. Should you wish to discuss this matter further then please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Elliott
