Year 9 pupils prepare for an important role
Some of our Year 9 pupils spent 2 days in art workshops, organised by the Hepworth Wakefield, training them to become Art Ambassadors to take new skills into primary schools.
They were introduced to work by contemporary artists, including the four prints commissioned for this year’s Schools Prints project and then used the prints as a starting point for creative writing activities. In another session, they were introduced to the printing techniques that will be used in the primary school workshops, and building their confidence in public speaking and teaching others. The workshops were delivered by 2 artists: Rose Condo and Helen Peyton.
As part of the School Prints project Art Ambassadors will support a print artist deliver workshops in primary schools. They will be working with Year 5 pupils in the following schools; Mackie Hill J&I school, Dane Royd J&I school, Hendal Primary School, Sandal Magna Community Academy and Sandal Castle Community primary school.
