Instrumental Lessons
At Kettlethorpe High School we are proud of our partnership with Wakefield Music Services (WMS) and the range of opportunities available to our students to learn to play, sing, and make music.
We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of teachers from WMS who visit school each week to deliver instrumental and vocal lessons.
The following instrumental and vocal lessons are available in school:
All instruments can be used to play jazz, classical, popular, film and musical theatre styles | ||||
Woodwind | Strings | Brass | Guitar | Other |
Flute | Violin | Trumpet | Electric Guitar | Singing |
Clarinet | Viola | Cornet | Acoustic Guitar | Piano |
Oboe | Cello | Trombone | Bass Guitar | Drum Kit |

Lessons will usually begin at the start of a half-term. Where this is not possible, students will be placed on a waiting list and tuition will begin when a place becomes available.
Once enrolled, pupils can loan an instrument free of charge (with exception of drums, piano and electronic instruments).
Pupils are notified in school of their first lesson. At this session they will be introduced to the teacher and information will be given about any equipment (e.g. drumsticks or music books) that are required.
By enrolling for music lessons with Wakefield Music Services, you agree to pay school as per the terms and conditions.

As payment is made in advance of lessons taking place, we suggest that students only cease lessons at the end of a term. Cancellations must be requested in writing to agriffiths@nullkettlethorpe.wakefield.sch.uk by the following deadlines:
Friday 5 December 2025 to stop lessons at the Christmas holiday.
Friday 6 March 2026 to stop lessons at the Easter holiday.

Any cancellation requests received after these cut-off dates will not be processed until the next scheduled cut-off.
Refunds will not be issued if students stop attending lessons before the end of the term.
