Pupil success at the ESSA secondary team championships

Recently 8 of our pupils competed at the English Schools North East division secondary team championships, with a team of 4 pupils in the junior races and a team of 4 pupils in the intermediate races. All 8 pupils did absolutely amazingly, and only had a week to put their team together, with the pupils’ parents providing invaluable help in bringing the teams together and helping the pupils compete on the day.
The junior team finished first in both the team relay and the team freestyle events, and now face a wait to see if their times will qualify them for the national finals. This team was comprised of Joshua G and Harry A in Year 7, and Harry T and Owen C in Year 8.  The intermediate team also made the podium, finishing 3rd in both of their events. This teams was comprised of Oliver A and Benjamin W in Year 9, and Luke J and Brodie C in Year 10.
Well done to all of the pupils that competed and a big thank you to the parents who made this event possible. Good luck to the junior team and fingers crossed for the time to be good enough!
