Families Invited to Discover Kettlethorpe High School at Open Evening

Families considering their secondary school options are invited to visit Kettlethorpe High School and see first-hand the exciting developments taking place across the school.

The school will open its doors on Thursday 1 October 2026, from 4.00pm to 7.00pm, offering prospective pupils, parents and carers the chance to tour the site, meet staff and students, and learn more about the school's ambitious vision for the future.

As a proud local authority-maintained school, Kettlethorpe remains committed to its values of being "led in the community, for the community." Under the leadership of Headteacher Roisin Paul, the school has made significant progress in recent years, with rising standards, investment in facilities and a renewed focus on ensuring every pupil achieves their potential.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a range of facilities, including the school's Learning Resource Centre, modern computer suites, dedicated SEMH hub, enhanced reception areas and Multi-Use Games Area. These complement specialist spaces such as science laboratories, dance and drama studios, and outdoor learning areas.

However, Kettlethorpe believes its greatest strength is its people and culture. The school's mission, "Together, be the best we can be," is supported by its vision for all members of the community to be Present, Achieving and Excelling. Alongside this, pupils have helped create the school's Kindness Charter, which promotes respect, responsibility, resilience and reflection.

The school offers a broad and ambitious curriculum designed to develop confident, knowledgeable and independent learners. Reading and literacy are central to school life, while a wide range of enrichment opportunities helps pupils develop confidence, leadership skills and personal interests through sport, music, the arts, clubs and student leadership roles.

Headteacher Roisin Paul said:

"At Kettlethorpe High School, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to be successful, regardless of their starting point. Our focus is on helping every pupil to be present, achieve and ultimately excel."

"We are incredibly proud of the progress our school community has made. Visitors to our Open Evening will see a school with high aspirations, strong values and a real sense of belonging. Most importantly, they will meet our wonderful pupils and staff, who make Kettlethorpe such a special place to learn."

Pupil voice plays an important role in shaping school life, and students are actively involved in driving improvements across the school. Kettlethorpe is also proud of its strong community spirit, with pupils and staff raising more than £110,000 for Children in Need and other charitable causes over the past decade.

The Open Evening is particularly aimed at families with children currently in Year 5 and Year 6 ahead of the secondary school application process. Staff and pupils will be available throughout the evening to answer questions and provide a genuine insight into life at Kettlethorpe High School.
