On Tuesday 8th October 16 of our pupils competed in the English Schools Swimming Association (ESSA) Secondary Team Championships. They were competing at the Grammar School at Leeds against a range of schools, many of whom were private, from all over the North East of England. All 16 of the pupils did brilliantly but the 4 boys that made up the intermediate team achieved particular success, finishing 1st in the 4 x 50m freestyle relay and 1st in the 4 x 50m medley relay. This was 1st place across 3 different heats and against 15 other schools, with the boys performing brilliantly in both races. They now wait to see if they have achieved the qualifying time for the national finals, which we are quietly confident they will have done. Well done lads!!
